Machine Operator / Manual Labourer

We are a well-established, family-run timber processing business with over 40 years of experience, specialising in fencing, pallet timber, and firewood. Based just north of Norwich, we are looking for a hardworking and motivated Machine Operator / Manual Labourer to join our close-knit team.

This is an excellent opportunity for someone looking to build a long-term career in the timber industry. Full training will be provided, with hands-on experience operating specialised machinery and contributing to the production of high-quality timber products.

 

Job Details

• Pay:
  • Starting rate £13.20/hour (includes 50p/hour attendance bonus)
  • Late shift premium: £18+ per hour (when applicable)
• Hours:
  • Monday–Thursday: 07:00–17:00
  • Friday: 07:00–13:30

From March 2026, there is potential for the role to move to a rotating two-shift pattern for approximately six months of the year to support production demand:

• 06:00–14:00
• 14:00–22:00

Advance notice will be provided for all shift rotations, and shift premiums will apply during these periods.

• Holiday: 28 days per year (including 8 Bank Holidays, 15 company-designated days during planned summer and Christmas shutdowns, and 5 flexible days)
• Training: Full training provided – no previous experience required

Saw Blade Technician trainee

Job type: Full time position

Must have previous engineering experience and a keen interest in mechanical engineering

Working Hours: Mon – Fri 7-5, 47.5 hrs per week

Overtime when required

Pay: £25,000 – £30,000 per annum depending on experience

Holidays: 28 days per annum including bank holidays. 10 days fixed over Christmas.

Job description:

We are a fencing and pallet timber manufacturing company and due to recent investment and expansion we are looking to recruit a Sawblade trainee technician to help with our existing team to service the tooling on our extensive on site plant and machinery. This is a fantastic opportunity for the right candidate.

The duties will include:

• Sharpening/ Servicing Circular saws, Bandsaws, knives and cutters
• Operating CNC blade sharpening and servicing equipment in our Saw Servicing department.
• Changing sawblades, cutters etc.

You will be working alongside our existing experienced Sawblade Technicians, all training will be given.

Mechanical Plant Technician 44.5 hours per week

Mechanical Plant Technician required for a well-established family run business, situated north of Norwich. We are a fencing and pallet timber processing company and have been established for over 40 years and are looking for a competent technician/engineer to work within our business. The potential candidate must have previous experience and a keen interest in mechanical engineering. The position is full time.

We are looking to recruit a Mechanical Plant Technician to grow our existing team to maintain our extensive plant and machinery.

Hours: Monday – Friday 44.5hrs

Pay: £35,000 – £42,000 per annum depending on hours and experience.

Holidays: 28 days per annum including bank holidays, Christmas fixed.

Candidate needs to be able to work confidently and independently to a high standard.

Daily tasks will involve: – Pneumatics – fault diagnostics and repairs, hydraulics – fault diagnostics and repairs, welding, heavy plant repairs, servicing, changing bearings, changing sawblades and cutters, diagnostics and repairs on modern PLC controlled machinery. Understanding of Electrical control systems would be a benefit.

Duties to include general machine repairs and working to a maintenance schedule.

Due to the nature of the business, candidate must demonstrate safe working practices and awareness of certain health and safety regulations and protocols. The duties will cover a wide range of machinery and tasks both indoors and outdoors.

You will be working alongside our existing experienced sawmill engineers, all training will be given. The role will entail the individual to prioritise workload and demonstrate excellent attention to detail.
